Men’s Basketball Halted in Overtime by Baker

Lamoni, Iowa - The Graceland University RV Men's Basketball team took on the Baker University Wildcats. The Yellowjackets were stopped by the Wildcats in overtime, 90-84. Graceland move to 12-3 and are 9-2 in the conference.

Graceland (12-3, 9-2) | Baker (13-4, 11-2)
Half 1: Graceland 38 | Baker 37
Both teams would put up points quickly (2-2). The Wildcats would push an early eight-point run (10-2); the run would be broken by a Darrius Davis layup (10-4). At the 12-minute mark, Austin Braun would sink a three to pull a 10-point collection: baskets from Braun (five points), Carter Brown (three points) and Amitai Afenjar (two points) (19-17). Patrick Fisher would pull nine points for the Yellowjackets and close their deficit to two points (29-27); moments later, Akeen Woods would drain a layup to even the score. Braun (three points) and Afenjar (two points) would close the first half by adding five points to take the lead by one, 38-37.

Half 2: Graceland 29 | Baker 30
The Wildcats would come out of the gate hot and create some space; their run would be halted by a Darrius Davis three-pointer (41-41). Graceland would add a pair of three-pointers from Aleksa Markovic and Austin Braun to trade the lead (50-47). Graceland would see baskets from Amitai Afenjar, Akeen Woods, Carter Brown, Patrick Fisher, Aleksa Markovic, and Carson Busch. The Wildcats would even the score with just under two minutes remaining, 67-67, sending the game into overtime.

Overtime 1: Graceland 17 | Baker 23
Aleksa Markovic would open overtime by draining a layup (69-67). The Wildcats would retaliate to add five and take the lead; a layup by Patrick Fisher would break the run. Graceland would work to close the gap with baskets from Austin Braun, Amitai Afenjar, Fisher, Akeen Woods and Markovic. Baker would hold their lead for an overtime win, 90-84.
