Men’s Basketball Conquered Grand View

Lamoni, Iowa - The Graceland University Men's Basketball team took on the Grand View University Vikings. The Yellowjackets defeated the Vikings, 102-58. Graceland move to 5-1 and are 2-0 in the conference.

The Vikings would open the game to take a 7-0 lead. The Yellowjackets would put points on the board from a Patrick Fisher jumper. The Vikings would answer to push a five-point jump (12-5). A three-pointer by Aleksa Markovic (four points) would push for a 10-point jump to take the lead; baskets from Austin Braun (three points) and Carson Busch (three points). Minutes later, the Yellowjackets would collect 11 to take a nine-point lead, points from Braun, Busch, and Markovic. With just under five minutes left, the Yellowjackets would extend their advantage to 25 points heading into halftime, 56-31; Darrius Davis would close the half with a charity stripe. Graceland would have a shooting percentage of 58.8 in field goals (20-34), 68.8 in three-pointers (11-16) and 100 in free throws (5-5).

Carson Busch would open the second half with made free throws, and Auston Braun would follow from the deep to lead by double the Viking score (62-31). The Vikings would break the Yellowjacket run with a jumper. Braun would kick start an eight-point jump from the deep; points from Amitai Afenjar (two points) and Akeen Woods (three points). Minutes later, Carter Brown would add four points from a made layup and charity stripes (81-38). Graceland would push their advantage to 24 from a Sylvester Union three-pointer (84-40). The Yellowjackets would see points from JY Smith and JT Washington. A Julius Raudonius layup would push the Yellowjackets to breach into triple digits. Graceland would hold their largest lead over the Vikings of 47 points and take a 102-58 victory.
