Football Remains Undefeated with a Late Field Goal to Take Down the No. 7 Benedictine

Lamoni, Iowa. – The Graceland University football hosted the Benedictine College Ravens. The Yellowjackets took down the Ravens 37-35 and move to 3-0 on the season.

Quarter 1 Graceland 14 | Benedictine 6
The Ravens would find the endzone first with a 12-yard rushing touchdown, and the extra point was missed. Graceland would get on the board with their first drive – Cade Ross would find Gerald Monroe for a 59-yard touchdown (8:17 minute mark). The extra point by Alex Tuyo was good.

The Yellowjackets would work a 10-play, 65 yards on a 4:50 drive to end with a Ross and Monroe 16-yard touchdown.

Quarter 2: Graceland 7| Benedictine 0
Graceland would have a strong defensive second quarter, holding the Ravens scoreless. Essential defence would come from Bret Whitehall, JT Brown, Cornel Jones, Justin Hooper, Jacob Morales, Kanoa Johnson and EJ Barrera.

The Yellowjackets would add to their advantage with a 17-yard rushing touchdown by Adarius Thomas and would head into halftime leading 21-6

Quarter 3: Graceland 7 | Benedictine 22
The Ravens would come out on first to add a touchdown early in the third quarter; from a 1-yard rush to enter the endzone. Benedictine would add their second touchdown from an 82-yard punt return, followed by a 2pt. conversion rush to tie the score 21-21.

Graceland would work a 12 play and an 85-yard drive to end in the endzone with a Gerald Monroe 9-yard touchdown from the pass by Cade Ross to retake the lead 28-21. Benedictine would even the score from a 25-yard passing touchdown (28-28).

Quarter 4: Graceland 9| Benedictine 7
Benedictine would enter the final quarter with the same dynamic to take the lead from a 3-yard rushing touchdown. Graceland would retaliate with a 10-yard Gerald Monroe touchdown, Monroe's fourth touchdown of the night. The extra point ended in a fumble, Graceland trailed by one point (35-34).

The Yellowjackets would take the lead with 13 seconds remaining on the clock with an Alex Tuyo 44-yard field goal (37-35) and held the two-point advantage for the victory.
