Football Take Home Opener Victory Against Doane

Lamoni, Iowa – The Graceland University football team opened their season going up against the Doane University Tigers. The Yellowjackets took down the Tigers 42-17 and move to 1-0 on the season.

Quarter 1 Graceland 21 | Doane 3
Graceland would kick off the game to get the first touch down from a 22-yard Cade Ross pass to Gerald Monroe. The extra point by Alex Tuyo was good. The Tigers would add a field goal at the 7:52-minute. Monroe would add his second 34-yard touchdown from Ross. The extra point from Tuyo was good (14-3).

Graceland would find the endzone at the 4:15 mark with a 54-yard Monroe touchdown. The last touchdown of the first quarter would come from a 56-yard run from the pass by Ross to Monroe. Graceland would lead 21-3.

Quarter 2: Graceland 7| Doane 7
After a nine-minute scoring break, the Tigers would find the endzone for a rushing touchdown and extra point. The Yellowjackets would answer late in the second quarter with a 56-yard Gerald Monroe touchdown (28-10).

Quarter 3: Graceland 14 | Doane 0
The Yellowjackets would continue in their dynamic holding the Tigers. Cade Ross would scampered into the endzone. The Yellowjackets would work for a six-play drive and go 62-yards. Reggie Wilson would add a 24-yard touchdown (3:37). Graceland would lead by 32 points (42-10).

Quarter 4: Graceland 0| Doane 7
Both teams would hold each other scoreless and Doane would add a 22-yard touchdown to close the game (2:29 minute mark). Graceland would take the victory.
