Baseball Splits to the Valor on Senior Day

Lamoni, Iowa – The Graceland University Baseball team took on the Evangel University Valor in a four-game series. The Yellowjackets were defeated by the Valor in game one, 8-5. In game two the Yellowjacket came out on top with a score of 12-4.

The Scoring – Game 1
T2 – The Valor would score one on a single to center field (GU:0 | EU: 1)
B4 – Three Yellowjackets runs would be added. Bryan Paez would bring in Javin Stevenson on a single to center field. Kamaehu Sanchez's single to center field would score Paez and Jacob Lopez (GU:3 | EU: 1)
T5 – A fielder's choice and a Graceland error would add two Evangel runs (GU:3 | EU: 3)
T6 – Four Valor runs would be score (GU:3 | EU: 7)
B6 – A stolen base by Javin Stevenson would cause a Valor error to score Gabriel Perez, and Stevenson would score (GU:5 | EU: 7)
T7 – Evangel would cap their scoring by adding one from a sacrifice fly to center field (GU:5 | EU: 8)

Zach Tanabe started for the Yellowjackets and went 5.0 innings, faced 23 batters, had two strikeouts and held the Valor to three runs on four hits. Mason Krogsgaard would close the game in 2.0 innings, facing 13 batters.

B1 – Three Graceland runs would score. Zach Tanabe doubled down the right-field line to bring in Keith Whitaker. Tanabe would cross home plate from a Bryan Paez single to right field. Darwin Marquez would be brought home from an Ethan Balogh drilled ground out to second base (GU:3 | EU: 1)
T2 – A solo-home run over the right field by the Valor (GU:3 | EU: 2)
T3 – Evangel would add two runs from a double down left field line and a Yellowjacket error (GU:3 | EU: 4)
B4Jacob Lopez drove the ball to right center for a triple to score Keith Whitaker, and Lopez would score on a wild pitch (GU:5 | EU: 4)
B5Kato Dougan would score on a Skyler Harris double down the right-field line. Zach Tanabe drilled a single to bring home Harris and Austin Wheeler (GU:8 | EU: 4)

Elio Narvaez stepped to the mound for the start and went the complete game; 6.0 innings. He allowed four runs on three hits, with two earned runs and had four strikeouts, facing 26 batters.
