Baseball Splits the Day to Saint Mary

Leavenworth, Kan.– The Graceland University Baseball team contoured their three-game series against the University of Saint Mary Spires. The Yellowjackets fell short in game two of their series to the Spires and would take game three in nine innings.

Series Results:
Game 1: Saint Mary Defeats Graceland, 9-10
Game 2: Saint Mary Defeats Graceland, 1-11
Game 3: Graceland Defeats Saint Mary, 5-0 (Nine-Innings)

Season Record: Graceland 1-2 | Saint Mary 2-1

The Scoring – Game 1
B1 – Spires would score one off an RBI double (GU:0 | SM:1)
B2 – SAU would add four more runs from a hit-by-pitch, a double and a Yellowjacket wild pitch (GU:0 | SM:5)
B4 – A series of singles would tally in three runs (GU:0 | SM:9)
T5 – Payne Pfeiffer would drill an RBI double, scoring Javin Stevenson (GU:1 | SM:9)
B5 – A RBI double would add another Spires run (GU:1 | SM:10)
B6 – A single RBI would cap off the scoring with an unearned run (GU:1 | SM:11)

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Zach Tanabe and Payne Pfeiffer produced doubles.
The Yellowjackets had six hits, led by six individuals.

The Scoring – Game 2
T9 – The Yellowjackets would get on the board with a Kamaehu Sanchez three homerun, scoring Javin Stevenson and Zach Tanabe. Spires would walk Jacob Lopez and Gabriel Perez; Darwin Marquez and Travis Vaala would cross the plate (GU:5 | SM:0)

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Roger Camacho and Stephen Eskridge combine to throw a nine-inning no-hitter. Roger Camacho went six innings with 8-10 strikeouts.
Javin Stevenson and Darwin Marquez would be credited a stolen base.
The Yellowjackets had five hits, led by Ethan Balogh. There would be one double and three RBIs.
Kamaehu Sanchez would produce a homerun.

Up Next:
Baseball will be back on Saturday, February 18, when they travel to Joplin, Mo., for the Joplin Tournament. On day one, the Yellowjackets will take on Hastings College, starting at 9:30 am. Game two when they take on the Columbia College Cougars; the first pitch is at 7:30 pm.
